LOS ANGELES — March 20, 2012 — Urban transport specialist, Tern, will show its support for the 2012 National Bike Summit in Washington, DC this March 20-22. Tern’s exciting recent debut in the commuter category has been punctuated by its commitment to advocacy for bicycle law, safety, and participation.
The Summit relies on congressional district representatives to attend on behalf of their state and Tern has extended support to Commute by Bike editor, Ted Johnson, who will cover the Bike Summit and participate in the Arizona delegation to Congress for the second time. Johnson will ride Tern’s stunning and simple Verge Duo while in D.C.
Presented by the League of American Bicyclists, the National Bike Summit is an annual gathering of cycling advocates and enthusiasts with the goal of creating a more bike-friendly America. The National Bike Summit allows cycling advocates an avenue to present their goals before congress and help defend critical funding programs.
Representatives will gather to discuss bike-related policy issues, strategize for the upcoming legislative session, host workshops and speakers, and meet with members of Congress. The National Bike Summit has successfully lobbied for the enactment of a Senate Bike Caucus and encouraged more than 200 House members to join the Congressional Bike Caucus. The conference has also influenced laws, helping launch the Bicycle Commuter Act.
“The National Bike Summit is our country’s preeminent forum to engage lawmakers on issues related to cycling safety and ease,” said Steve Boyd, head of Tern in North America. “We are happy to team up with Ted and thank him for his commitment to bicycle commuting and leadership in the nation’s capital.”
The Tern Verge Duo is a two speed, auto-shifting powerhouse for flat cities. With no cables and ultra clean lines, an urban rider will relish in its outstanding performance and eye-catching aesthetics. The beautiful ride quality and folding convenience comes along with standard accessories like fenders, a BioLogic Post Pump, and a Luggage Socket.
