Genesee Brewery Celebrates St. Patrick's Day

Employees Thank Rochester for Support of Hometown Brews

Rochester, NY - The numbers are in, and Rochester is drinking the Genesee family of beers in record numbers. To give personal thanks to local fans, nearly 40 brewery employees took to the streets of downtown Rochester on Saturday, March 12 at the St. Patrick's Day parade.

"The Genesee family of beers is seeing double digit growth in sales," said Lisa Texido, brand manager, Genesee family of beers. "We wanted to hit the streets of Rochester and celebrate with our fans, and what better event than St. Patrick's Day. It's a beer occasion where everyone gets to be Irish."

According to Nielsen data,* Genny Light is the number one popular priced beer in the Rochester market - and Genesee beer is not far behind at number four.

Participating in the St. Patrick's Day parade has become an annual tradition for the Genesee Brewery. This year's theme "iBrew," celebrated the team of Brewery employees who come together each day to brew quality products for the Rochester community to enjoy.

One local Genesee Brewery fan, Stephen Bezila, also took part in the celebration. Through an in-store promotion with Tops Friendly Markets, Stephen of Rochester won the chance to ride through the parade in the brewery's "beer trolley" and assist employees in handing out brewery swag to the cheering crowd.

"We love making beer - and we love brewing it right here in Rochester," said Mike Mueller, brewmaster for the Genesee Brewery. "The St. Patrick's Day parade is a great opportunity for us to have fun with the people who support us and love what we do."

Adding to the fun, the Genesee Brewery "beer trolley" was "toasted" by the Parade Committee, earning second place in the "Best Commercial Unit" category.
