TIME WARNER CABLE BOOSTS INTERNET SPEEDS ON SEVERAL TIERS OF SERVICE

Broadband Turbo Top Downstream Speed Now 20 Mbps

CHARLOTTE, NC (Dec. 8, 2011) Time Warner Cable today announced faster downstream and upstream speeds on several tiers of Internet service for customers across the Carolinas.

The top downstream speed for Broadband Turbo customers has increased from 15 to 20 Mbps and from1 to 2 Mbps upstream.  The faster speeds of Broadband Turbo are designed to meet the demands of today’s broadband home, with multiple devices streaming video and music, gaming online and downloading movies, music and other large files.

These new speeds further position Time Warner Cable as the clear leader in speed compared to DSL Internet providers, with Time Warner Cable Broadband Internet customers receiving top speeds as much as 67 percent faster than similarly priced DSL offerings.

“Today’s broadband customers demand faster speeds for their multi-device, online lifestyles,” said Darrel Hegar, Regional Vice President, Operations, Time Warner Cable Carolinas.  “Time Warner Cable’s faster speeds mean an even better Internet experience for Turbo customers, whether you’re downloading music to your laptop, watching live TV with the TWC TV™ app for the Apple iPad™ or streaming video to your WiFi-connected smartphone.

“Plus, our faster speeds are arriving just in time for customers to connect all those tablets, smartphones and other devices they receive as gifts this holiday season.”

Speeds have also increased for Time Warner Cable Internet customers with Lite Internet (from 768 Kbps to 1 Mbps downstream and 128 Kbps to 1 Mbps upstream) and Basic Internet (from 1.5 Mbps to 3 Mbps downstream and 256 Kbps to 1 Mbps upstream).

The faster speeds are in effect automatically for all affected customers, with no change in the current price of the service.

For customers who want even faster speeds, Time Warner Cable offers Wideband Internet, with downstream speeds of up to 50 Mbps — eight times faster than the fastest DSL offering — as well as Broadband Extreme, with downstream speeds of up to 30 Mbps.  For more information on all Time Warner Cable services, visit www.timewarnercable.com.
