The 25-member team recorded the fastest time by pulling the 200,000-pound Boeing 757 a total of 12 feet in 3.88 seconds. That was four-hundredths of second faster than the Southern Maine Raging Bulls football team (3.92 seconds) and nearly two seconds faster than last year's winner, Pratt & Whitney.
Time Warner Cable's winning team featured a mix of engineering, construction, tech ops and customer-service employees from Maine and New Hampshire. They were among more than 70 Time Warner Cable employees who participated in the annual fundraiser, which collected $20,000 for the Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
In all, Time Warner Cable sponsored five teams for the MS Society's Plane Pull. A second team featuring employees from the company's engineering and construction departments placed third with a time of 4.04 seconds. Pratt & Whitney placed fourth this year.
