Time Warner Cable to Upgrade Service in Barstow with 100+ HD Channels

Special events on November 16-17 allow customers to learn more

Barstow, CA (November 1, 2011):  Time Warner Cable has announced an upgrade for Barstow cable and Internet customers. Beginning November 30, 2011, local cable subscribers will have access to additional services including more than 100 HD channels and faster Internet speed. The company is planning special events on Wednesday and Thursday, November 16 -17 to allow customers to speak with customer service representatives to learn more about new services, new set top boxes, and to help customers understand the new Barstow options.

The upgrade allows Time Warner Cable to deliver new advanced technologies and services including faster Internet speeds; Video On Demand technology; Whole House HD-DVR; over 100 HD channels; 82 new network channels; packages available in Barstow for the first time, such as Sports Pass, Movie Pass, El Paquetazo, Mas Canales; and advanced services like Start Over® and Look Back® with the ease of a new Interactive Program Guide.

“We are pleased to make this investment in the Barstow community and know our customers will enjoy the extra features,” said Deborah Picciolo, Regional Vice President, Operations for Time Warner Cable West Region. “Our TWC team is ready to assist – on the phones, in our cable store, and on-line – to ensure our Barstow area customers have access to their favorite programming.”

In order to make these new services available, Time Warner Cable will begin providing its cable programming services in digital format only.  Subscribers with existing digital cable boxes or a retail cable card device will have access to the new features starting November 30.

Customers that currently have cable plugged directly into a TV, VCR, DVD recorder or similar device will need a Digital Cable Box or Digital to Analog Converter in order for that equipment to continue to receive all channels above Broadcast Cable.  Time Warner Cable is offering customers who sign up by November 30 one Digital to Analog Converter at no additional charge for one full year from date of signing.  This Digital to Analog Converter will allow access to Broadcast and Basic level channels.  After one year from date of signing, the rate will be $2.00 per box per month.
