(TRAVPR.COM) USA - May 25th, 2012 - Visitusa.com comes to market with an exciting set of group travel deals. This marks a new direction for a website that is well known as one of the oldest and most authoritative sources of travel information for the United States. Visitusa.com is getting a fresh look after nearly 15 years to coincides with the timing of the new group travel deals. The new design incorporates social sharing features and simplifies the process of finding attractions in every state. The design maintains a focus on highlighting the USA through pictures and by focusing on content that is more adventure oriented. Visitors will be able to find deals both by searching the site and contextually.

The shift towards unique adventure travel packages is a move away from traditional sources of revenue generated by the site. The site founders commented, “Hotel reservations are a great source of revenue for us but they don’t do anything to help us brand Visitusa or distinguish our product in the market. In contrast, our new group deals are a distinct and unique product.” Visitusa.com is partnering with Touristlink as a fulfilment partner in order to take advantage of the sites social platform which allows members to see who is going on a trip, who has already bought it and who is the trip leader. Additionally, users of the site can ask questions directly to the trip leader and get to know the other people going on the trip before making a purchase decision.

The new group deals focus on adventure activities and exploring the more remote places of the country where it may be difficult for visitors to arrange their own trip. The first trips being planned will shuttle visitors to the remote backcountry of Utah, Alaska and Wyoming for hiking and camping. The trip to Alaska takes visitors from Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean via the Dalton Highway. Trip participants will head north across the mighty Yukon and then cross the Brooks Range (Gates of the Arctic National Park) where they will enjoy several days hiking. The trip will end with a visit to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge home to some of the most diverse and spectacular wildlife in the Arctic.

Visitusa.com offers comprehensive tourist information on every state. The website highlights; cities, lakes, national parks, mountains, rivers and more so that the adventure traveler can get a quick overview of any state. Some long time favorite features of the site include the guide to California Beaches and the guide to pictures of the United States which highlights over 50,000 of Americas top destinations through pictures. Google maps play a new and important role in the new design of the site and showing related content to visitors. Site visitors can sort the content based on category to easily find anything from lakes to hiking trails both at the city level and at the state level. The redesign is not fully in integrated but will be complete by July 1. Visitors can however get an idea of it by looking at the completed home page.
