Dr. Marshall, a 1985 graduate of Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, will be in charge of developing strategies, systems and teams to continually help improve the experience for pet owners and veterinarians for processing claims.
"Dr. Marshall's background is a huge asset to us and we feel lucky to have her expertise to draw from," said Darryl Rawlings, Chief Executive Officer at Trupanion. "She is also passionate about our mission of celebrating and protecting the bond that people have with their pets, making her an excellent fit for our company."
Prior to joining Trupanion, Dr. Marshall served as the senior director of medical informatics at Banfield Pet Hospital in Portland, Ore. where she was instrumental in designing a health information system for pets called PetWare?, a program which allowed the hospital to share medical records electronically with any of the 760 Banfield hospitals.
As a licensed veterinarian, she has practiced in different veterinary hospitals in Idaho and California, including being a staff veterinarian at the University of California, Davis.
Dr. Marshall is the current President of the Association for Veterinary Informatics as well as the Co-Founder and Chair of Nanoport Technologies. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and the American Medical Informatics Association, among other organizations.
"I have focused my career on helping improve pet health, and I know how important pet insurance is to that cause," said Dr. Marshall. "I look forward to working with the Trupanion team to help people and their pets at the time they most need it."
Dr. Marshall lives in Seattle with her husband, Andrew, and their four pets: Rudy Einstein, a young terrier-dachshund mix; Maya and Popo, both ten-year-old Chihuahuas; and Mona Montana, a rescued cat.
