Oiler to use Verizon technology to give "behind the scenes" access to fans

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (November 03, 2011) The Tulsa Oilers have announced Verizon Wireless as the official wireless carrier of their organization for the 2011-2012 hockey season.

"We are extremely excited to be working with Verizon during the 2011-12 hockey season,” said Rob Loeber, director of broadcasting and media relations for the Oilers.  “The Oilers are proud to work with a company that cares about the fan experience and growth of hockey in Oklahoma."

With help from Verizon Wireless, Oilers fans will be introduced to the Droid Diaries, an up-close look at Oilers hockey. Each week, videos and pictures taken with a Droid device will be posted at www.tulsaoilers.com.  This section of the website will keep fans up-to-date on the season and provide behind-the-scenes access to practices, road trips and life as a hockey player. Verizon will also display their products and services at selected home games so Oilers fans have the opportunity to experience the latest technology while cheering on the Tulsa Oilers.

“This is a great opportunity for Verizon Wireless and hockey fans in Tulsa,” said Steve Smith, President of the South Central Region for Verizon Wireless. “As the Oilers use their speed and quickness on the ice to defeat their opponents we are proud to be their partner off the field using the fastest and most reliable wireless network in Oklahoma for their organization.”
