WASHINGTON, DC – VOA Associates, Inc. has won a Best Institutional/Public Building design award for the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute in Hampton, Virginia. The Award of Excellence in Development Design was given by the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate.
The Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute is a highly specialized healthcare facility for treating patients with proton beam therapy, a new form of cancer treatment. “This is a special place; a sanctuary for healing. We take great pride in knowing that the new proton therapy treatment center will be saving countless lives by using new technology to treat several types of cancer. Our goal was to create a comfortable healing environment for patients that embraces the natural beauty of this historic place,” says John Jessen, AIA, Managing Principal of VOA.
