DENVER – Wild Eggs – a Denver breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant – will celebrate the 138th Kentucky Oaks and Derby on May 5 and 6 with limited-time Mint Juleps and its famous Kelsey KY Brown. For every Mint Julep and Kelsey KY Brown sold on those two days, Wild Eggs will donate $1 to Second Stride, a non-profit that helps retired horses in need.
One of Wild Eggs’ best-selling dishes is the Kelsey KY Brown, the restaurant’s variation of the Hot Brown created by the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Ky. in the early 1920’s. The famous hot sandwich features toasted sourdough bread (also available in Gluten-Free), roasted turkey, applewood smoked bacon, diced tomato, white cheddar Mornay, fried egg and smoked paprika. The western-style Mint Juleps are only available on May 4 and 5, and feature Distillery 291’s Colorado Fresh whiskey, which is an un-aged corn whiskey distilled in Colorado Springs.
“While we’re fifth generation Coloradans, the Wild Eggs concept was hatched in Kentucky,” said Wild Eggs eggsecutive chef Matt Bergman. “This gives our guests a chance to experience a Kentucky tradition with a Colorado twist.”
In addition, there will also be a contest for the best-dressed patron. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate to Wild Eggs, and will be selected at random.
