AGAWAM, Mass. – As Su"ddekor LLC’s design portfolio continues to grow, offering a wide range of laminate flooring, furniture, and countertop options for homes and offices, quality control is more important to the company’s mission than ever before.
In addition to a striking array of colors, finishes and textures inspired by woods and stonework found around the globe, Su"ddekor’s product line is expanding within a stringent quality control environment that is aimed at curbing waste, eliminating error, and providing a high-quality, long-lasting option for designers interested in both style and sustainability.
Su"ddekor has focused on developing its core competency of single-source production, from design development to printing to resin impregnation under one roof, for more than a decade.
This combination minimizes the speed to market from design conception to the delivery of treated sheets, and also provides the ability to coordinate technical developments between the separate functions.
One of its newest advances at Su"ddekor is the addition of a new digital color match system that allows printing on a two-foot-wide digital printer and uses inks and paper that are similar to the gravure process. This eliminates color metamerism between the digital and final gravure prints, and the digitally printed paper can also be laminated into an HPL (High Pressure Laminate) or TFM (Thermally Fused Melamine) sample.
“The key benefit of combining printing, treating, and impregnation under one roof is faster development times for product enhancements,” said Joe Hoelzer, Su"ddekor’s president and CEO. “At the same time, it provides faster times for problem resolution. Customers can now do color work in a fraction of the time and have their prints laminated.”
Su"ddekor’s focus on creating value in all products through this design-print-treat synergy has also been augmented by the implementation of proprietary, innovative resin systems that provide scratch and mar resistance along with a high gloss finish for laminate flooring, and higher wear and mar resistance for decorative panels.
In addition, Six Sigma activities have been integrated into the production process to further improve efficiency. A business management strategy originally developed by Motorola, USA in 1986, Six Sigma is widely used in many sectors of industry to improve product quality, by identifying and removing the causes of defects and errors and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes.
The company continues to benefit from technical discussions and joint developments regarding impregnation with colleagues at Dakor, a member of the 2D Group based in Laichingen, Germany. Su"ddekor will introduce the 2012 design portfolio at Surfaces 2012, Jan. 24 and 25, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Las Vegas. For more information, visit www.Suddekorllc.com.
