WSO2 Publishes Guidelines on How to Optimize WSO2 ESB Performance for Different Enterprise Integration Scenarios

WSO2 ESB benchmarks highlight advantage of pass-through HTTP transport—performing up to 19,378 KB/second—over default NHTTP and Message Relay-enabled NHTTP

Palo Alto, CA – May 3, 2012 – Different enterprise integration scenarios require different message transfer mechanisms from the enterprise service bus (ESB) in order to achieve optimal performance. To help IT architects and developers determine the right mechanism for their requirements, WSO2 has published a paper, “Achieving Optimal ESB Performance: Comparing Message Transfer Mechanisms.”

The paper evaluates two use scenarios to compare the performance of three message transfer mechanisms supported by WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus (http://wso2.com/products/enterprise-service-bus): default NHTTP transport, Message Relay-enabled NHTTP transport, and Pass-through HTTP (PT HTTP) transport.

The highest performance was achieved with WSO2 ESB running the PT HTTP transport, reaching throughput of up to 19,378 KB/second for messages 0.5 KB in size and up to 12,726 KB/second for messages 10 KB in size.

While slower than PT HTTP, WSO2 ESB running the Message Relay-enabled NHTTP transport performed 30% faster overall than WSO2 ESB running the default NHTTP transport. Throughput for the Message Relay-enabled NHTTP transport reached up to 13,984 KB/second for messages 0.5 KB in size and up to 11,168 KB/second for messages 10 KB in size.
