Worksman Cycles, America's oldest bike manufacturer, and Transportation Alternatives (TA,) have joined forces to introduce a new series of bicycles built in New York City for New Yorkers.
The "BikeNYC.org" bikes are built in Worksman's solar-powered Queens factory and are designed to be the perfect "everyday" ride. Built on Worksman's legandary "NYC1898" steel, fully-lugged and hand-brazed frame, the bikes feature 26" x 1 3/8" alloy rims with gumwall tires, full-length steel fenders, leather saddles and grips and 20' North Road style handlebars. The classic profile is enhanced by the use of a monochromatic color scheme where the frame, fenders and chainguard are powder coated in either all black or all white. Fenders feature a thin orange pinstripe which accents the Transportation Alternatives distinctive logo.
The BikeNYC bicycles come standard in a single speed, coaster brake configuration at $499 and are avilable in 2, 3, or 7 speed internal hub models. A front motorcycle style drum brake is available. 10% of the sales price of all BikeNYC bicycles will be donated to Transportation Alternatives to support their advocacy and outreach programs.
The bikes are availbale at www.worksmancycles and can be seen at www.bikenyc.org.
