A Mother’s Day Experience at Adoratherapy: The Art of Breath
A fine art and scent experience in Downtown Asheville North Carolina
Asheville, North Carolina - Renowned for its “beyond perfume” approach to perfume making, Laura McCann, CEO & founder of Adoratherapy of Asheville, North Carolina has extended an invitation to New York sculptor, Leah Poller, to exhibit in its downtown Asheville store at the historic Grove Arcade for Mother’s day 2021.
Known for her series “BED”, Poller selected works from the 101 piece bronze sculpture series to curate exclusive pairings with Adoratherapy’s aroma-perfume scents. This collaboration titled: “The Art of Breath” provides a unique Mother’s Day experience promising to be both inspirational and mood shifting.
Poller’s internationally acclaimed series transforms common words containing “bed” into three dimensional representations of the place where we spend more than one-third of our lives: the most intimate and personal space of the bed. Each bronze sculpture is a mini-theater of our humanity: The bed is where we are born, we dream, we rest – and these days, maybe spend an inordinate amount of time conducting our careers.
To celebrate Mother’s Day together, this multi-generational creative Mother and Daughter duo chose to celebrate their 1st post Covid meeting with a collaboration and celebration of alchemy. The Artist and Perfumer create experiences for the senses, and by joining forces this May in Asheville, they are bringing the immutable, timelessness of bronze together with the olfactory properties of essential oils to delight all the senses.
“My heart shaped honeymoon bed sculpture is about sensuality and new beginnings” says Poller, “paired with Adoratherapy’s signature Passion Essential Oil Blend it takes on an entirely new dimension”.
“Leah’s beds have been in my life as long as I can remember. I wanted to share them with everyone” says McCann. “I love to imagine the beds with our scents. They tell stories, like poems, that elevate our understanding of each moment. Aromatherapy is about making breath a ritual of self-care, it’s very much about the body and the sense of smell. Leah’s bed sculpture series is about the mind and heart, the sense of touch and vision. Together our two disciplines bridge the spirit and merge our creative journeys. My mother and I are different kinds of artists. We have each found our medium, Leah in fine arts, and myself in the crafts and we are excited to work on this post pandemic project to extend our dialogue with others as we reconnect with each other.”
During the three-day event at the Adoratherapy store in the Grove Arcade, special Mother’s day promotions will be available, including aura readings with a complimentary Room Boost spray and customizable gift set options.
