Sammie Vance, inspiring the World one Buddy Bench at a time!
Sign Crafters is pleased to announce our recent partnership, with Samantha Vance, a fourth grader at Haley Elementary School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Sammie, as she likes to be called, came up with the idea to put “Buddy” Benches at schools for kids that need a friend.
When a child is feeling lonely, they can sit on a Buddy Bench, and it signals to others that they are in need of friendship. In a world where bullying is rampant in schools, Buddy Benches inspire comradery among students.
With the help of Walgreens ® who’s stores collected caps from bottles for the benches, GreenTree Plastics who manufactured the benches and spearheaded by our sales associate, Morgan Jones, Sign Crafters routed the words “Buddy Bench” on each seat.
Recycling for a Great Cause
In all, an estimated 15,000 lbs. of recycled bottle caps were collected. From peanut butter lids to pop caps, each bench requires 200 pounds of recycled plastic.
Not only did the recycled caps go into creating a haven for lonely children, but hundreds of pounds of plastic were also kept out of landfills.
Once the Buddy benches were created, they were distributed to schools throughout Indiana. In all 75 Buddy Benches are now providing friendship to otherwise lonely kids.
