With a sale expected to close in early February, representatives from Black Hills Corporation (NYSE: BKH
are touring Wyoming and taking the opportunity to meet with local community
leaders to share the specifics of this transaction.
Bootstrapped caught up with these representatives in Fremont County today
at the Oxbow Restaurant, in Lander to better understand what this would
mean for local consumers.
"As part of our settlement, rates will not change soon for consumers,"
reported Shirley Welte, Vice President, Operations for Black Hills. "This
deal is a great strategic fit bringing together two well-regulated utility
operators and creating a strong utility company. We're headquartered in
Rapid City, but have 68 additional offices and service centers in Colorado,
Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming."
With 110 employees in Wyoming, and 18 in Fremont County Source Gas's team
will combine with Black Hills to be a force of 219 total employees in the
