This past week, George Mason University research group, The Mercatus Center
, published their findings
detailing the impact that Federal regulations have on Wyoming industry. The
results show a significant and adverse effect that regulations have had
nation-wide, but which are 60% more pronounced in the Cowboy State.
The top 5 industries that comprise Wyoming's economy (mining, oil and gas
extraction, real estate, support activities for mining and construction)
are among the most regulation affected industries. Office of Surface Mining
Reclamation and Enforcement is the most impactful regulator, accounting for
more than 3,000 restrictions.
