A database of health care costs statewide could be coming

A footnote in the Department of Health's proposed budget would allow for the creation of a "volunteer multi-payer claims database" relating to health costs statewide. The provision says the department of health would invite insurance providers and private employers to provide insight into what healthcare costs from community to community in Wyoming. Should the study group deem it necessary, they would then create a database detailing all of the information received. The stated goal of this database would be to provide transparency into healthcare industry around the state and potentially result in lower rates. Budget amendments are beginning today during debate in the House. The provision for this study must survive amendments and multiple floor votes. #bootstrapped #news
