Houston World Series of Dog Shows Celebrates 40 Years

Continues Mission of Elite Competition and Public Education

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston World Series of Dog Shows returns to NRG Park, July 19-23, 2017. A dog lovers’ paradise for all ages, the 40th anniversary series will host a fun-filled schedule. Conformation, performance events and contests will include agility, barn hunt, canine musical freestyle, creative dog grooming, flyball, Frisbee® and obedience. Purina® Pro Plan® dog food continues as the series’ main sponsor, and Costco Wholesale is the Meet the Breeds event sponsor.

Throughout the event, visitors can browse the McScotty Market, selling pet-related goods and services from hundreds of vendors and presenting many breed-specific rescue groups. The Dr. Mari Jon Filla Student Art Exhibit will display a large gallery of dog-inspired works from Houston-area K-12 grade artists. Spectators can bid on the uniquely themed and handcrafted dog shelters featured in the C.A.P. Designer Doghouse Competition and Silent Auction.

General show hours are 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. daily. Wednesday’s FREE ADMISSION AND PARKING make it a great day to shop the McScotty Market and enjoy a partial performance. All tickets are available at the door. Thursday tickets are $5-off weekend rates. Friday through Sunday tickets are Adults $15, Seniors 55+ $10 and active/retired military personnel and family with ID $10. Children 12 and younger are admitted FREE with adult. A two-day pass is available for $20 through Ticketmaster available July 1. Parking is $12 cash per day.

The Houston World Series of Dog Shows is sanctioned by the American Kennel Club and supervised by Onofrio Dog Shows. During five days, the shows typically attract more than 40,000 spectators and participants and 14,000 entries. Wednesday’s specialty breed show is sponsored by Bluebonnet Boxer Club, Inc., Houston All-Terrier Club, Houston Area Hound Association, Houston Combined Specialty Association and Houston Working Dog Club. The Houston Kennel Club sponsors Thursday and Friday shows with Beaumont Kennel Club sponsoring Saturday and Galveston County Kennel Club sponsoring Sunday. The show’s main sponsor is Purina® Dog Food, makers of Purina® Pro Plan® dog food. Other sponsors include Costco, VERGI, Greensheet Media, PetTalk and Telemundo Houston.
