AKC Brings Reunite Trailer to Houston to Shelter Pets for Victims of Hurricane Harvey
HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Kennel Club today announced an AKC Reunite Trailer will arrive Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Harris County Animal Control (HCPHES Veterinary Public Health) located at 612 Canino Road, Houston, Texas 77076.
The AKC is donating the trailer to Harris County Animal Control to provide temporary housing for at least 65 pets whose owners have no other places to keep them during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Upon arrival, each pet is photographed, properly identified, then micro-chipped and vaccinated if needed. The trailer will help owners feel secure, knowing their pets have temporary food, shelter and supervision. Owners can visit their pets to check on their welfare and to comfort and exercise them.

The Houston Kennel Club hosts the Houston World Series of Dog Shows, held annually in July, and sanctioned by the American Kennel Club. The HKC supports the cause of responsible dog ownership and dog welfare throughout the Houston area.
