Nearly $1 million in weed confiscated over the holiday weekend

A veritable cornucopia of controlled substances were seized over the Thanksgiving holiday by Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers on Interstate 80. In four separate traffic stops on I-80 from Nov. 23-29, 233 pounds of marijuana was confiscated. The first stop was on November 23rd and resulted in one arrest and 72 pounds of marijuana seized (see photo). The stop occurred at 4:40 p.m. on Interstate 80 eastbound near mile post 107 just east of the Rock Springs, Wyoming city limits. With the assistance of the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Christopher P. McGinley, a 31-year-old resident of Old Bridge, New Jersey, was arrested and taken to the Sweetwater County Detention Center in Rock Springs. He has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. It is believed the marijuana originated out of California and was destined for New Jersey. The seized marijuana from this first stop has an estimated street value of $300,000. DCI has taken over the case. The other three stops occurred on the 26th, 28th and 29th all in the Cheyenne area on I-80. These three interdictions of the illegal drug resulted in 161 pounds of marijuana seized with a combined estimated street value of $670,000. #news #buckrail #county10 #reboot #oilcity #dally #county17 #shortgo
