Snow King to present Phase 2 development plans

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Next Friday, Snow King Mountain will present the development plans for Phase 2 of the Snow King Master Development Plan. The plans for Phase 2 were initially presented to the public at the Snow King Hotel in February 2014 as part of the accepted Snow King Master development plan, which included Phase 1 projects that are now nearing completion. The Cowboy Coaster opened on October 4 and the Treetop Adventure Course is nearly complete . Snow King then announced the beginning of Phase 2 in July 2015 , and is now ready to present progress on the proposal that will be made to inform the USFS about the projects. “We’ve had exceptional feedback from the local community about the improvements to date. It was inspiring to see people so excited about the Cowboy Coaster when we opened it for two weeks in October,” said Snow King Mountain President and lead investor Max C. Chapman Jr. “We believe that the next phase of improvements - including a Summit restaurant, an observatory and planetarium, a gondola to the summit, and several other improvements - will make Snow King a centerpiece of civic life” Chapman continued. Snow King intends to make a proposal to the USFS in early 2016. If the proposal is accepted, the next step will be a public scoping process for the projects, followed by an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), environmental review process. Construction will begin following the process, which could take several years. Snow King Mountain General Manager Ryan Stanley reported that this summer’s Phase 1 improvements reflected an investment of $15 million, and anticipates that the next phase of development will exceed that amount. “We’ve invested heavily in improving existing mountain infrastructure and introduced several new products this summer including the Treetop Adventure Park, the Cowboy Coaster, and a new rental and retail shop,” Stanley said. “These improvements are critical to our ability to operate a successful year round resort, and we look forward to embarking on the next phase of improvements in the coming years.” Phase 2 developments include a gondola to the summit, a summit restaurant, a summit observatory and planetarium, a zipline from the summit to the base, a new Lift on the eastern side of the mountain, an access road to the summit, a zip line tour, a lift-accessed mountain bike bark, and new ski-able terrain. The public presentation is on December 11 from 3 - 6 p.m. at the Grandview Lodge. *Feature Photo: h/t Snow King Mountain / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news #whatshappening
