(Jackson, Wyo.) - Here is what's happening today around the county: *Winter Wonderland Family Day:* Families will have fun celebrating the holidays with activities and crafts at the library. Children can decorate gingerbread men, watch a calligraphy demonstration in the Gallery, receive a personalized bookmark, and more. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Teton County Library. *Home for the Holidays Event:* From 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Saturday, join the
Animal Adoption Center, PAWS of Jackson Hole and local shelters to adopt,
celebrate or donate to animals in need. During the event, families can meet
adoptable cats and dogs from the Jackson/Teton County Animal Shelter, Teton
Valley Community Animal Shelter, Animal Humane Association of Star Valley
and the Animal Adoption Center. If you can’t adopt, the organization asks
that you drop by with a NEW toy, bed, treat or unopened bag of food during
our annual toy and supply drive for homeless pets.
*Holiday Art Bazaar: *Today from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Snow King Resort, the
Art Association is holding a Holiday Art Bazaar featuring fine arts and
crafts with lots of items for your holiday shopping list. The cost is $5 or
free for members.
*Holiday Gift Show:* Held at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse Community Center,
the Holiday Gift Show features gifts from local artists Valerie Seaberg,
Laurie Thal, Meggan Stordahl and Carolyn Little, Jenny and Sam Dowd, Nancy
Carson, Sharon Rudd, Diane Awuv, Clairey Grubbs, Abby Paffrath, Kristen
Simpson, Diane Benefiel and Dee Parker, Nancy Hogenson, and Siobhan Elder.
The Holiday Gift Show is on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Old
Wilson Schoolhouse Community Center, 5655 Main Street in Wilson.
*Raptor Encounters: *With the change of season, Teton Raptor Center’s
Raptor Encounters program will be offered on Saturdays at 2pm at the
Hardeman Ranch in Wilson. This hour-long educational experience with live
birds of prey includes opportunities to meet many of TRC’s resident raptors
and visit the rehabilitation clinic. Space is limited and reservations are
required. Program fees benefit the birds and support Teton Raptor Center’s
mission of helping birds of prey through education, conservation and
*37th Annual Chanukah Party:* On Saturday, December 12 at 6 p.m. is 37th
Annual Chanukah Party. The event includes latkes and fixins’, drinks and
dessert. Please bring a main dish or side dish to share. Main dishes
encouraged. Kids activities offered. E. Leaven Food Co. $10 suggested
*Chanukah Menorah Lighting:* On Saturday at 7 p.m. in Town Square, the
Chabad Jewish Center of Jackson Hole will be honoring Chanukah. The
community is invited to a giant Menorah lighting, sing Chanukah songs and
hear the story of Chanukah. Chanukah treats such as hot potato latkes,
doughnuts filled with jelly (Sufganiyot), chocolate Chanukah gelt and hot
chocolate will be served while Chanukah Menorahs and dreidels will be
available for one and all.
*The Nutcracker:* Dancers’ Workshop will present the San Diego Ballet and
DW students in performances of this holiday classic December 11, 12 and 13.
After the matinee performance on Saturday, December 12, join Dancer's
Workshop on stage for a special Meet-the-Characters Tea Party to see the
sets and costumes up close and collect autographs from the performers.
*Journeys School Gala:* At 6:30 p.m. at the Jackson campus of Teton Science
Schools is the Journey's School Gala. The event includes food and drinks,
Live and Silent Auctions and disco dancing. All proceeds from the event go
to benefit Journeys School and the extraordinary education it provides for
our students. Disco themed dress encouraged but not required.
*Locals Appreciation Party at the Silver Dollar Showroom:* From 7:30 - 11
p.m. on Saturday night, this event features Live music with 6 Foot 2 and
raffle prizes include a Full Season Pass to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort,
plus snowboards and other give-aways.
*Holiday Latin Dance Party:* Saturday night at 9 p.m. at the Pink Garter
Theatre is the Holiday Latin Dance Party. The event is $15 and includes
free Salsa and Bachata Instruction from 9pm to 9:30pm.
*Canyon Kids Concert:* Tonight at the Canyon Kids will perform free at 10
p.m. at the Town Square Tavern.
