High School Nordic Ski season kicked off this weekend

The Wyoming High School Nordic ski season kicked off today at the Casper Mountain Trails Nordic Center. Over 150 high school skiers from Kelly Walsh, Natrona, Lander, Jackson, Pinedale, Cody and Laramie met for their first official race of the season. Snow fell throughout the morning but the skiers made great time and had loads of fun. The Casper varsity head coaching duo of Justin Kinner and Cassidy Jerding along with a small army of devoted volunteers hosted a very well organized event. Bjorn Schou from Jackson placed first in the men's varsity followed by Liam McInroy from Laramie. The Laramie boys placed five skiers in the top ten with Jackson placing three skiers in the top tier. Annabel Hagen and Abby Brazil both from Jackson placed one and two respectively in the women's varsity followed closely by Kit-Kat Gruner of Natrona. The Jackson women placed five skiers in the top ten followed by two Natrona skiers. Jackson will host the next WHSAA nordic ski meet at the Trail Creek Nordic Center on December 18 and 19. Cody will start the new year off by hosting a race in Pahaska near the East Entrance of Yellowstone on January 8 and 9. View compete results here.
