Parks and Rec employee honored with Hometown Hero Award

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Last week, Jackson / Teton County Parks and Recreation employee Ben Arlotta was honored with the Town of Jackson Hometown Hero Award. "It is just a blast to honor Ben tonight. He is a valued member of the team at Parks and Rec and this woman was so impressed with his service and his attitude on a daily basis that she made a donation in his honor, in his name, to Old Bill's Fun Run for the amount of $5,000," said Mayor Flitner at the Town Council meeting. Arlotta is a customer service representative at the Rec Center and has been an employee of the Parks and Recreation Department for nearly 11 years. "It is extraordinarily humbling. I love what I do and for someone to acknowledge that I do it half well is, I think that is what everyone works to hear," said Arlotta of the award. The proclamation stated that "co-workers and visitors alike can’t help but be energized by Ben’s benevolence and have commented time and time again that, 'Ben is the kind of person who makes you have a better day;' and one Recreation Center patron was so moved by Ben’s ability to treat others with pure warmth that she donated $5,000 for matching funds from Old Bill’s Fun Run in his honor and in support of the Parks and Recreation Department." "It was clear from Ben’s co-workers, his employer, and the people in the room that he is truly deserving," said Mayor Flitner. According to Flitner, the Hometown Hero award is given out a couple of times a year, when people really go above and beyond. *Feature Photo: h/t Ben Arlotta / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
