Teton County Search and Rescue teaches what to pack for winter backcountry adventures

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Tonight, Teton County Search and Rescue (TCSAR) will hold their annual "What's in Your Pack" class to a sold out crowd. The annual class is geared towards the newbie to the expert, and covers winter-backcountry topics including fire and snow, winter shelters, SAR helicopter operations, essentials for your ski, snowboard or mountaineering pack, avalanche website updates and more. All TCSAR volunteers are teaching plus someone from the Bridger-Teton Avalanche Center. "These classes are important for Novices through experts as a way to get yourself in the right mindset before any winter activities. It also helps give you specific knowledge on things you wouldn't likely practice at home (like how to build fires in the snow or preparing shelter in case someone gets hurt)," said Stephanie Thomas, executive director of TCSAR Foundation and a TCSAR volunteer. The class is tonight from 5:30 - 8 p.m. at the Search and Rescue Building. But don't get too excited, the class is already sold out with 82 attendees. *Feature Photo: h/t Teton County Search and Rescue / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news #whatshappening
