Wyo winter storm results in 61 crashes in 32 hours

(Wyoming) - The winter storm that came through Wyoming in the last two days caused roads to close and snow days, but also many auto crashes across the state. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP), in a 32 hour period between 12 a.m. on December 15 and 8 a.m. on December 16, there were 61 crashes statewide. 49 of those crashes caused only property damage, 10 caused injury, and two were hit and runs. Thankfully, there were zero fatal crashes reported. Additionally, the WHP Dispatch Center answered 2,433 phone calls and handled 567 events during the 32 hours. 129 of those calls were broken down or stranded motorists that were assisted by WHP Troopers. Many highways are still closed, especially in central and southern Wyoming. Current closure updates are available here from Cheyenne Shortgo. *Feature Photo: Rollover crash on I-80 east of Cheyenne on Thanksgiving 2015 around 10:00 a.m. h/t WHP / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #county10 #county17 #dally #shortgo #oilcity #reboot #news
