JH Youth Soccer lobbies for Stilson Field

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Last night, the Jackson Hole Youth Soccer (JHYS) Club Director Dan Norton sent a letter to the JHYS families urging them to lobby town and county officials to finish the Stilson Master Plan. According to the email, field space has been shrinking for JHYS due to increased enrollment, the growing local Lacrosse Club, and later practice times for school sports. Norton's solution for this problem is to develop the land near the Stilson Lot, where there is a preliminary plan in place for athletic fields. The email goes on to state that "the county has been discussing and planning the use of this space for the past decade and it has yet to be developed. Our community needs those fields now. The completion of this project would add 350,000 sq. ft. of field space and help solve many of the field issues the community is currently facing." According to Norton, the JHYS club has grown substantially, with 330 athletes enrolled in 2012 and more than 450 today. In a letter that Norton and JHYS President Thomas Dwell sent to the Board of County Commissioners, the men request that officials finish the Stilson Master Plan in time for the next Specific Purpose Excise Tax (SPET) election so that the community can vote on the need. *Feature Photo: The land near the Stilson Lot / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
