JHHS Speech and Debate Team takes first place in Green River

(Jackson, Wyo.) - The Jackson Hole High School (JHHS) Speech and Debate Team continued its regular season success with a first place finish at the Green River Invitational, held at Green River High School. With twenty schools in attendance, JHHS captured the 3A crown with 87 sweepstakes points compared to second place Cody who finished with 48 points. The Jackson team, under the coaching of Londe Gagnon and Peggy Gagnon, advanced sixteen students to final rounds with twenty five top-six placings. “Green River is the last tournament before all Novice competitors shift to Varsity. The strength of the team in multiple events was apparent at the meet. Our students showed that they are competitive with the best in the state," said Coach Londe Gagnon. The team is already planning its own invitational tournament on Friday and Saturday, February 5 and 6, 2016.
