Snow storm to come this weekend, bigger storm predicted for next week

(Jackson, Wyo.) - The National Weather Service Riverton Office issued a Special Weather Statement earlier this afternoon stating that a series of storm systems will impact Western Wyoming with snow and wind between this weekend and the middle of next week. According to the NWS, "the first system will move in Saturday afternoon or evening and last through the night before decreasing. This storm may produce 1 - 3 inches across the lower elevations and 3 - 6 inches in the mountains. Another system will move quickly in Sunday night and last into Monday with similar amounts." A bigger storm is predicted for Monday. The statement reads, "a much more significant winter storm is expected to arrive Monday night and last through Tuesday night with plenty of snow and strong wind. This type of storm system can easily dump 6 - 12 inches of snow in the western valleys and 1 - 2 feet in the high country."
