12 local events to say goodbye to 2015 and welcome 2016

(Jackson, Wyo.) - It is time to bid goodbye to 2015 and celebrate the beginning of the New Year. Here are several local events happening around the county to help you (kids and adults) usher in 2016: *1. New Year's Eve Popper Making: *On Thursday at 10:15 a.m., at the Jackson Hole Children's Museum is a craft event where kids can create their own New Year's Eve poppers to add to your celebration of the New Year. *2. Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at JHMR:* JHMR employees will treat the community to a traditional torchlight parade on Apres Vous followed by a celebratory fireworks show. Parade starts at 6 p.m., fireworks to follow. *3. Kids Night Out at JHMR: *On Kids Night Out, the Kids Ranch offers evening activities for children ages 4-18 in a supervised environment. Snow King Torch Light Parade and Fireworks:* A torchlight parade and fireworks on New Year’s Eve is a tradition in many ski town, and Jackson is no exception. This annual event kicks off the new year with a bang and is just as much fun to watch as it is to ski down. Expert skiers (who are comfortable skiing steep terrain in the dark carrying fire) are invited to participate in the parade. The lift to the top begins at 6:15 p.m. for the parade and the fireworks will follow at around 7 p.m. More information is available on the Snow King Mountain website. *5. Grand Targhee:* New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade & Fireworks: Come watch or participate in Grand Targhee Resort's Torchlight Parade. The Kid's Glowstick Parade is perfect for kids between 5 and 14 who possess basic turning and stopping skills. Kids meet time is 4 p.m., and their parade is at 4:30 p.m. Adult's Torchlight parade is open to skiers and riders 12 and up and space is limited. Roadside flares are used and old clothing is recommended. Meet at 4:45 p.m. at the Ski School. Parade starts about 5:30 p.m. *6. Gondi Gala:* Join JHMR on New Year's Eve at the top of the gondola. The couloir restaurant (9095') plays host to Jackson's Whiskey Mornin' as they usher in the new year. The fun starts at 9 p.m. with a complimentary champagne toast at midnight. The gondola will begin downloading at the end of the party at 1:00 a.m. More information is available here. *7. Silver Dollar Bar NYE Party:* Starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Silver Dollar Bar is a New Year's Eve party with live music by Major Zephyr with special guest Ben Winship. The party is free. *8. Sneaky Pete and the Secret Weapons:* On New Year's Eve starting at 10 p.m. at the Town Square Tavern, Sneaky Pete and the Secret Weapons will perform. Sneaky Pete and the Secret Weapons is a collective of musicians channeling original music through a lens of hazy funk and unending groove, all witnessed and interpreted from the peaks and valleys of the Rocky Mountains. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. More information is available here. *9. New Years Eve: One Ton Pig Featuring Tony Furtado:* Jackson Hole, Wyoming-based One Ton Pig melds the singer-songwriter tradition of artists like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash with the imaginative genre-bending of jam bands. The result is a fingerprint aesthetic that blurs the lines between folk, jazz, country, bluegrass, gospel and rock’n’roll. Set to release their fourth album, “Lastville,” in June, the group’s existing three-album oeuvre has collectively sold 4,000 CDs and 10,000 digital downloads.One Ton Pig has appeared at numerous festivals and has shared the bill with such artists as the McCourys, Wood Brothers, Chris Robinson, Railroad Earth, and Old Crow Medicine Show. Tickets are available here . *10. New Year's Eve Party with Down North, Canyon Kids, Souly Hitz, Oh! Nassi and More: *On New Year's Eve starting at 9 p.m. at the Pink Garter Theatre, there will be a New Year's Eve Party with Down North, Canyon Kids, Souly Hitz, Oh! Nassi and more.
