Area snowpack lower than previous years

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Today, the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Casper released the historic snowpack totals and Jackson Hole has less snow in compared to previous years. The Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) noted the Snake River Basin (Jackson Hole area) snowpack at only 91 percent of the median. That compares with 115 percent of median one year ago this week, 101 percent in 2014 and 108 percent in 2013. "Our SWE numbers are not good for this time of the year," reported Lee Hackleman, a water supply specialist for the NRCS. "However we still have plenty of time to make this deficit up, but this next week does not look too good."
