National statistics report 8 out of 10 car seats are installed improperly. In fact, unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death and injury to children under the age of 16. The number one killer of youth is motor vehicle crashes. Fire Marshal Kathy Clay, senior car seat technician for Teton County, oversees the program. “The car seat program will be further enhanced with the addition of these three technicians,” said Clay. “As we build our core group of technicians, we are able to enhance service to our communities.” Several agencies support the work of safe car seat installations by training staff to become technicians. These local agencies are Teton County Public Health, Town of Jackson Police Department, Victim Witness, Jackson Hole Fire/EMS, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and Sublette County Public Health.
