(Jackson, Wyo.) - National news media group Vice released an article about Jackson Hole on Tuesday. The article, titled "Homelessness and Housing Shortages are a Big Problem in Luxury Resort Towns like Jackson Hole,"
reveals what we already know -- for many, pay is low and rent is high in
The article dives into the lack of affordable housing, a problem that is
compounded by the fact that Teton County is 97 percent protected lands and
the zoning discourages density in the town.
It also brings up the homeless issue and how it is challenging to track how
many people are homeless who sleep on couches, in their car or camp.
"It's impossible to know how many people are homeless or experiencing
housing instability in Jackson," the article states.
The article goes on to discuss the ultra-wealthy of Jackson, workers who
commute from other counties, local solutions proposed by government
officials as well as residents, and more.
