14 local skiers qualify for Grand National Powder 8 Competition

(Teton Village, Wyo.) - On Saturday, 44 skiers making up 22 teams competed to qualify for the first Grand National Powder 8 Competition in 15 years. The weather moved the competition from the primary location, the Cody Bowl, to the backup location, Bernie’s Bowl. After some very snowy and powdery turns, 7 teams and 14 local skiers will head to the Grand National Powder 8 Competition, which will be head on the Cody Bowl on February 6. These teams that qualified for the Grand National Powder 8 competition include: 1. Halsey Hewson & Chris Denny, Score: 194 2. Jeff Leger & Tanner Flannagan, Score: 187 3. AJ Puccia & Brendan Levine, Score: 184 4. Ethan Valenstein & Sam Sehnert, Score: 183 5. Bart Flynn & George Flynn, Score: 177 6. Capt. Benny Wilson & Dave the Wave, Score: 170 7. Brigid Horigan & Sarah Felton, Score: 169 This year, the invitational team contest will host approximately 22 teams invited from a variety of western resorts, with more than $10,000 in cash and prizes for the top three finishing teams. Five judges will be ranking teams based on historical requirements, including style, symmetry and synchronization.
