BREAKING: Avalanche kills 30-year-old snowboarder on the Pyramid

(Teton County, Wyo.) - There was an avalanche today on the Pyramid that claimed the life of a 30-year-old male snowboarder. According to Teton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Matt Carr, at 12:59 p.m. today, the Teton County received a call from a citizen observed an avalanche occur on the Pyramid, which is a couple of canyons south of Jackson Hole Mountain Report and north of Fish Creek Rd. At the time the call came in, the Teton County Search and Rescue was training in Teton Village so they quickly diverted the helicopter to the scene. From the helicopter, they saw snowboard tracks into the path of the avalanche. Sgt. Carr said that after further investigation, search and rescue members spotted a snowboarder at the tail end of the slide. The helicopter dropped off rescuers and they were able to recover the body of a flew member to the area, where the SAr members were able to recover the body of a 30-year-old male snowboarder. Sgt. Carr says that it appears that the man was snowboarding alone. They are not releasing the name of the deceased until proper family has been notified. #buckrail #news
