(Teton County, Wyo.) - Teton County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the name of the 30-year-old snowboarder who was killed by an avalanche
while in the backcountry this afternoon.
Teton County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Matt Carr confirmed that Jed Wesley
Foster was the victim who was killed in the avalanche. Carr states that
Foster has been a Jackson resident for at least a few years.
According to Sgt. Carr, at 12:59 p.m. today, the Teton County received a
call from a citizen who observed an avalanche occur on the Pyramid, which
is a couple of canyons south of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and north of
Fish Creek Rd.
At the time the call came in, the Teton County Search and Rescue was
training in Teton Village so they quickly diverted the helicopter to the
scene. From the helicopter, they saw a snowboard track into the path of the
avalanche, then quickly located and recovered the body.
