(Jackson, Wyo.) - Here's what's happening around town today: *Women's Skate Ski Workshop:* On Saturday from 9:30 - 12 p.m. at Stilson, the Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Department and the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are offering a Women's Skate Ski Workshop to learn the skate ski technique or to improve your technique. The workshop is geared toward beginner/advanced beginner skate skiers. Register at the recreation center or online at www.tetonparksand by 12:00 pm January 22nd. *Teton Valley Winter Farmer's Market:* MD Nursery is once again running their Winter Farmer's Market. The market is held every Saturday until March 12 in Driggs, Idaho. *Teton Valley Great Snow Fest:* Yesterday kicked off the 5th Annual Teton Valley Great Snow Fest, a week-long celebration of snow. Events include the annual Snowscapes Snow Sculpting competition, Skijoring, crafts for kids and much more. Many of the events are free. See the full schedule of this weekend's events in Buckrail's recent article, "Driggs preps for 5th Annual Teton Valley Great Snow Fest." *Health Insurance Marketplace Assistance:* Today starting at 10 a.m. at the Teton County Library, the library offers 45-minute, one-on-one sessions with a certified navigator for community members wishing to make changes to their federal health insurance marketplace application or start a new application following qualifying life events. Sign up at the Library Front Desk or call 733-2164, press 1. *Ranger-Led Snowshoe Hike:* Today starting at 1:30 p.m., join a ranger for an educational and fun hike through the snow. Rangers offer guided snowshoe hikes from the Taggart Lake Trailhead. Programs begin on December 26 and run through mid-March, 2015, conditions permitting. Reservations are required, call 307-739-3399 for more details and to make reservations. Please wear appropriate winter clothing (e.g. hat, gloves, snow/wind pants, boots, etc.) and don't forget your sunscreen and sunglasses. Snowshoes are available from the Grand Teton Association for a suggested donation of $5. Hikes last two hours, ending at 3:30 p.m. *Genealogy: Ancestry for Beginners:* Today starting at 2 p.m. at the Teton County Library, bring your problems, roadblocks, and questions. Every genealogist has something preventing them from completing a family tree. The first half of this class will introduce some great databases, including Ancestry, which are free with your library card. During the second half, we will use these databases to search for answers to your questions and to overcome roadblocks to completing your family tree. Bring your family trees and questions. You may research on your own device or use one of our computers. Bring a USB to save information. *Raptor Encounters: *Today at 2 p.m., this hour-long educational experience with live birds of prey includes opportunities to meet many of TRC’s resident raptors and visit the rehabilitation clinic. Space is limited and reservations are required. *Chanman solo at the K Bar: *On Saturday, January 16 from 4 - 6 p.m., Chanman will play apres' ski at the K Bar in Teton Mountain Lodge. Songs from Chanman's new CD "Chanman solo," ski bum originals and standards. The live music is free and open to all. *Coombs King Fest:* Coombs King Fest starts at 3 p.m. at Snow King Mountain and includes night skiing with the kids of the Doug Coombs Foundation, live music by the Canyon Kids, a silent auction, and food, drinks and dancing. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Doug Coombs Foundation to offer children from low-income families the guidance, support, and equipment required to participate in the amazing outdoor adventure experiences and sports activities that define the Jackson Community. *Sneaky Pete & The Secret Weapons:* The Sneaky Pete & The Secret Weapons will play live at The Wort from 7:30 - 10 p.m. *Caravan of GLAM "Freak Show"*: The Caravan of GLAM Presents "FreakShow" and 18 and Older Adult themed event at the Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming on January 23rd. The Caravan of GLAM is the #1 touring production on the West Coast featuring an All Star cast that was featured on the last season of America's Got Talent. "FreakShow" will take you places and show you things you have never seen before, hence the age restrictions. A non-stop visually stunning production featuring some of the top performers on the West Coast. Doors will open at 8:00pm with the show starting at 9:00pm.
