Frozen bubbles, snow painting and more at free Rolling Into Readiness event tomorrow

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Have fun, play and learn with your child tomorrow, January 30, when the Rolling Into Readiness bus brings early literacy activities for kids ages 6 and under to the Teton County Fair Building. Rolling Into Readiness collaborators, Grand Teton National Park and Children’s Learning Center will present indoor and outdoor snow activities, including frozen bubbles, homemade sledding, snow painting, toddler cross-country skiing, and cookie decorating with hot chocolate. Families learn science, art and outdoor play activities to support getting children ready for Kindergarten. These activities aim to involve families in fun and engaging science and math activities to support getting children ready for Kindergarten. “The project’s goal is to expose families to a variety of opportunities and practices that will help children make a successful transition to Kindergarten, and to do so through play, which is the language of learning for children,” said Isabel Zumel from Teton County Library. Funding for the Rolling Into Readiness initiative was allocated by the Wyoming State Legislature through Early Childhood Community Partnership Grants. The initiative is also funded by Teton County Library Foundation and Children’s Learning Center, as well as supported by in-kind donations and community volunteers. "In 2014, the Wyoming State Legislature appropriated $665,000 for the Early Childhood Community Partnership Grant program. I'm excited that the Rolling Into Readiness Project was funded in this round of inaugural grants,” said Wyoming Representative Ruth Ann Petroff. “I look forward to the project putting a spotlight on the importance of early childhood education and actively engaging our community's parents and young children in neighborhood-based events and activities to get children ready for kindergarten.” The event takes place tomorrow, January 30 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. and 12 - 1:30 p.m. at the Teton County Fair Building. *Feature Photo: Rolling Into Readiness bus. h/t Teton County Library /
