(Jackson, Wyo.) - Teton County is currently under a Winter Storm Warning
so local authorities want to remind the community to stay safe when
traveling and recreating.
"This new snow may make vehicular travel dangerous or impossible. Please
plan appropriately, leave earlier than normal to arrive at your destination
safely. Slow down and give extra spacing to the vehicles in front of you,"
said the Teton County Sheriff's Office in a release issued today.
Authorities also warn that this new snow may load and add instability to an
already fragile snowpack.
"We would like to remind backcountry travelers to show restraint when
considering travel in and around avalanche terrain over the next few days.
Let’s work together to avoid an incident on our roads or in the
backcountry. Please drive and recreate responsibly and within your
abilities. Heading out is an option, coming home is not," the release
