Flu on the rise statewide

The Wyoming Department of Health is reporting that influenza activity is picking up across the Cowboy State. Tracy Murphy, state epidemiologist with WDH, said “While there have been relatively few reported flu cases so far this season, we are seeing a recent noticeable increase. The current level is still low for what we would expect to see during the more active periods of a flu season. We know that the timing of peak activity can vary from season to season.” Murphy said influenza should not be taken for granted. “The 2014-15 influenza season was very severe with 29 influenza-associated deaths reported in Wyoming. This was an unusually high number for our state.” [image: giphy.gif] The state recommends vaccinations and common-sense measure like frequent hand washing, staying home while sick, and covering mouths and noses while sneezing to slow the spread of influenza. *Cropped featured photo h/t Allan Foster * #buckrail #county10 #reboot #springcity #dally #county17 #shortgo #oilcity #news
