New scams reported in Sublette County

(Pinedale, Wyo.) - The Sublette County Sheriff's Office announced on their Facebook page that they have been receiving calls about various scams this week. "We have taken a handful of calls this weekend about scammers claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House and telling our community members that they are the big winner. They are then told to send a sum of money via western union in order to claim their 'prize.' Remember folks, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Any prize from PCH does not require us to send any money up front. Generally, they show up with balloons, a television crew and one of those giant cardboard checks," said the Sheriff's Office on Facebook yesterday. The Sheriff's Office had more reports today, stating that, "We received another scam call this morning from a community member. This time the caller stated that they were from the government, gave an address that sounded like the White House, and claimed that the U.S. government had chosen 1500 people to receive $1000! The caller offered to put it on the citizen's credit card, OR... send it to Walmart for the citizen to collect." Law enforcement reminds the community to not share your personal or financial information over the phone. *Feature Photo: h/t Pixabay / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
