Sheriff's officer involved in weekend scuffle

(Jackson, Wyo.) - This weekend, a detention officer from the Teton County Sheriff's Office was involved in an altercation with his cousin while staying at Snow King Resort. According to the Jackson Police Department, at 2:42 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers responded to a delayed report of a battery. It was reported that while in a hot tub at a local hotel an argument ensued between two subjects. Eventually, this led to one subject grabbing the other and holding him under the water briefly. The parties then got out of the hot tub and the fight resumed in a hotel room. It was reported that both subjects were essentially wrestling each other on the ground. One of the men involved in this altercation was a detention officer for the Teton County Sheriff's Office. The officer was off duty and having a night out at the hotel. Lieutenant Cole Nethercott from the Jackson Police Department stated that one person had scratches and abrasions on their neck and upper torso, and the other party had abrasions near an elbow, on his forehead, and on his back and a small cut on a hand as well as a small cut on his lower lip. Lieutenant Slade Ross with the Teton County Sheriff's Office said that the department is doing an internal investigation on the situation. "We want to be transparent with this situations," said Lieutenant Ross. According to the Jackson Police Department, no charges have been filed yet. #buckrail #news
