Thompson Named Town Finance Director

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Earlier today, Town Manager Bob McLaurin announced that Kelly Thompson was selected to head the Finance Department for the Town of Jackson. After an extensive search and interactive selection process, Thompson has been selected to serve the Town as the new Finance Director. Thompson replaces Kent Meredith who recently moved back to Texas to be closer to family after two years of service to the community. Thompson was selected from among seven finalists invited to Jackson for personal interviews. Thompson comes to the Town of Jackson with more than 10 years of accounting experience. Since May of 2013, Thompson has served in the capacity of Financial Accountant for Teton County. “Thompson is the right choice for the position of Finance Director for our Town. I’m very confident in Kelly’s ability to run the department, provide the technical expertise we need, and be a part of our leadership team,” said McLaurin. Thompson will officially begin on February 29. He will provide professional oversight of all financial functions of the Town of Jackson including short, mid-range, and long-term departmental strategic planning while providing oversight of departmental compliance with professional accounting principles, practices, policies, procedures, and theory, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, statutes, ordinances, and regulations. “I’m honored to have this opportunity to continue to serve in this community with the Town of Jackson,” Thompson said. “I’ve been working for a long time to achieve personal and professional goals and use my knowledge where best suited.” He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting and a Master of Accounting from Georgia Southern University. Following college, Thompson gained experience as the In-Charge Auditor and Controller with the public accounting firm Deemer Dana and Froehle LLP in Savannah, Georgia and construction firm Regional Management Solutions in Bluffton, South Carolina, respectively. *Feature Photo: (Left to Right) Kelly Thompson and his wife Lorraine Thompson. h/t Town of Jackson / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
