Sublette County jail fully operational after sewage problem

(Pinedale, Wyo.) On February 23, Sublette County Sheriff Stephen Haskell returned normal operation to all parts of the Sublette County Detention Center. Parts of the facility had been temporarily shut down on February 15, when a problem with the sewage lines caused a back-up that spread waste water in two of the main housing pods. Inmates were transferred to nearby counties for housing until the problem was resolved and the building had been cleaned. The initial cleaning was undertaken by the county maintenance crew, with follow-up done by an outside company specializing in hazardous waste clean-up. Once the facility was clean, Sheriff Haskell waited to open all housing areas due to a lingering sewage smell in one of the pods. “I could not house inmates in that area until we had the smell taken care of,” Sheriff Haskell said. “We kept the outdoor recreation door opened and the plumbing access opened in order to air out that particular area.” The housing area, which has the ability to house 20 inmates, was reopened on Tuesday morning. The cost of the sewage problem, which will include the transportation and temporary housing of Sublette County inmates in other facilities, is yet to be determined. *Feature Photo: h/t Sublette County Sheriff's Office / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news
