Bettie Taylor and McKenna Rickaby face off for 120th 49er Queen

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Tomorrow night is the 120th Annual Jackson Hole Lion's Club 49er Ball. This community event began in 1896 as a means of gathering families together after a long cold winter. The festivities became an annual event and has been held almost every year, with some exceptions during the war years. This is the longest running community event in Jackson. In 1929, Olaus and Mardi Murie sponsored the '49er Ball at the then newly constructed American Legion building. The Jackson Hole Lions Club has sponsored the event since 1992. The Lions Club plays the role of event facilitator... The Queen candidates sell tickets before the event, and each ticket is a “vote” to get them elected. Up for this year's 49er Queen are Bettie Taylor and McKenna Rickaby. You can "vote" for each by calling: - Bettie Taylor: 509-362-1139 - McKenna Rickaby: 307-734-8226 The event is on February 27 at 7 p.m. at the Virginian. It includes live music, a live auction, food, drinks, gambling and more. Music by ‘Bootleg Flyer’ featuring the Miller Sisters starts at 8:30. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. *Feature Photo: h/t 49er Ball / Pitchengine Communities* #buckrail #news #whatshappening
