2 snowmobilers sustain serious injuries in Star Valley

(Afton, Wyo.) - On Sunday, February 28, the Teton County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue was requested by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office to assist with the rescue of two snowmobilers who were injured near the top of Dick Creek drainage in Lincoln County. Lincoln County had been unable to access the injured parties by ground and air the previous day due to terrain and weather issues. At approximately 8:00 AM, the Teton County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue helicopter dropped 4 rescue personnel near the scene to assess and ready the patients for transport. At approximately 8:30 AM, a Utah medical helicopter was able to transport the first patient for medical treatment. At approximately 9:20 AM the TCSOSAR helicopter transported the second patient to the Star Valley Medical Center for transfer to a Pocatello Medical helicopter for treatment. The injured snowmobilers have been identified as McKay Erickson, 48, of Afton, and Bailey Johnson, 18 of Auburn. At this time, the cause of the accident has not been released. #buckrail #news
