Happening Today: Music Under the Tram, Seussical Celebration, Hockey and more

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Here's what's happening around the county today: *Teton Valley Winter Farmer's Market: *From 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the heated greenhouse from 10-2 every Saturday from January 2nd through March 12th. Check out the local offerings of honey, linens, artwork, ceramics, baked goods, prepared foods, eggs, preserves, meat, jewelry and more. *Dick's Ditch Race: *This weekend marks the 17th Annual Dick’s Ditch Classic Giant Banked Slalom Race. This two-day banked slalom event is JHMR’s winter competition and a tradition that takes place on man-made and natural terrain in Dick’s Ditch from Lupine Way down to South Pass Traverse. This year presents Saturday’s run as the qualifier followed by the Sunday final. Both skiers and snowboarders advancing to Sunday’s competition start with a clean slate in a one-run, winner-takes-all format. *Seussical Celebration: *On Saturday, the Teton County Library will host its annual annual Seussical Celebration. Beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, children ages 12 and under and their caregivers can enjoy a special storytime featuring Dr. Seuss’ picture-book classic, “Green Eggs & Ham.” Then kids can dive into Seuss-themed games or a truffula-tree pencil craft. To finish the fun, the 2004 movie “Dr. Seuss’ Cat in the Hat” will be screened in the Ordway Auditorium. The library also will be giving away copies of “One Fish, Two Fish,” while supplies last. Light refreshments will be served. *Free Cross Country Ski Tips:* On Saturday, January 16 at 10 a.m. at the Stilson Lot, join experienced and enthusiastic Nordic Instructors and improve your kick and glide or skate stride. Look for them in red JHMR uniforms either on the Nordic track or in the Transit building. *Music Under the Tram:* The first Music Under the Tram of the season features local indie-rockers, The Canyon Kids, taking the stage Saturday, March 5. Music Under the Tram is a free outdoor concert series every Saturday in March at the base of the Aerial Tram. The music begins at 3 p.m. *Ranger-Led Snowshoe Hike:* Today starting at 1:30 p.m., join a ranger for an educational and fun hike through the snow. Rangers offer guided snowshoe hikes from the Taggart Lake Trailhead. Programs begin on December 26 and run through mid-March, 2015, conditions permitting. Reservations are required, call 307-739-3399 for more details and to make reservations. Please wear appropriate winter clothing (e.g. hat, gloves, snow/wind pants, boots, etc.) and don't forget your sunscreen and sunglasses. Snowshoes are available from the Grand Teton Association for a suggested donation of $5. Hikes last two hours, ending at 3:30 p.m. *Chanman Solo at the K Bar: *On Saturday from 4 - 6 p.m., Chanman will play apres' ski at the K Bar in Teton Mountain Lodge. Songs from Chanman's new CD "Chanman solo," ski bum originals and standards. The live music is free and open to all. *Moose Hockey:* Today at 7:30 p.m. at the Snow King Sports and Events Center is the last Moose Hockey home game of the season. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids. *Screen Door Porch at the Silver Dollar Bar:* Starting at 7:30 p.m., Screen Door Porch is performing live at the Silver Dollar Bar. There is no cover charge for the live music. *The Deadlocks Winter Ball 2016 - A Grateful Dead Experience in the Rockies:* Tonight starting at 8 p.m. at The Pink Garter Theatre is The Deadlocks Winter Ball 2016 - A Grateful Dead Experience in the Rockies.
