Town and County to address SPET funding to fix landslide, joint housing authority today

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Today, the Town Council and Board of County Commissioners will convene for a special Joint Information Meeting to discuss the Teton County Housing Authority and the SPET resolution for the West Broadway Landslide Project. First on today's agenda is the discussion of the proposed amendment to the resolution which created the Teton County Housing Authority. According to Town Documents, the amendment allowed for the formation of a regional housing authority, with both the Town and County as members. Today, officials will vote on whether to approve Amendment #2 to the 1990 Resolution Creating the Teton County Housing Authority. Next on the agenda is the discussion of how to fund the West Broadway Landslide Project. Staff documents state that, "At the February 1 Joint Information Meeting, the Town Council and County Commission directed staff to prepare language to fund the West Broadway Landslide project through a SPET initiative to go on the August ballot for discussion at the next JIM and remove the West Broadway Landslide project from existing language the Town Council and County Commission have been considering in relation to the community priorities fund." Officials will vote on whether to approve the joint resolution approving a proposition for continuation of a 1% Specific Purpose Excise Tax in Teton County, said proposition to be placed on the primary election ballot on August 16, 2016 as presented with the proposition of the West Broadway Landslide for $6,000,000.
