Sunday Events: Coombs Classic, Town Downhill, Pond Skim and More

(Jackson, Wyo.) - Here are some things happening around Jackson today: *Marmot Coombs Classic: *Marmot Coombs Classic Marmot Coombs Classic Ski/ride the Big One with friends and family in honor of legendary skier and Marmot athlete Doug Coombs. It's free to register in the base area 8:30am-1pm, and you'll get a raffle entry for each run you make up the Headwall, or on Casper Traverse (Mr. Toad's), with a limit of 5. *Town Downhill: *The Jackson Town Downhill features the heart-throbbing Mini-Hahnenkamm course on Snow King with divisions for Pro, Recreation, Telemark, Junior, Fat and Baggy and Snowboard. The event is the Club's way of recognizing that skiing - and ski racing - is truly a lifetime sport. Jackson Hole is one of the last places in the country to organize and support a non-sanctioned downhill race. This community favorite draws over 200 competitors and 500 spectators. The event starts at 10 a.m. and includes live music, food and a great race. *Snow King Pond Skim and Jackalope Jump:* This event is scheduled for Sunday March 20. This year, they will kick off this annual rite of spring with the Special Olympics Jackalope Jump. According to Snow King Mountain, the Snow King Pond Skim is – like many end of season events at ski resorts – a bit rowdy. Festivities begin at 1 p.m. and skimming will go until 6 p.m. More information is here. *Uncle Kracker at Rendezvous Fest:* The festival wraps up Sunday with the on snow Marmot Coombs Classic followed by Music Under the Tram featuring The Chan Man Roots Band and Uncle Kracker. *Apres with Major Zephyr:* On Sunday from 4 - 6 p.m. at the Mangy Moose is Apres with Major Zephyr. *Live Music with the Stagecoach Band:* Tonight starting at 6 p.m., the World Famous Stagecoach Band “Church”Stagecoach Bar Style will perform great country music and dancing This band has played every Sunday for over 40 years. *Taize at St. John’s Episcopal Church:* From 7 -8 p.m. on Sunday, Taize is an all-inclusive sung and silent participatory prayer service designed to achieve a contemplative state through music, song and silence. Taize offers a precious moment of quiet reflection in this busy world. *Uncle Stackhouse at Town Square Tavern:* Sundays with Stackhouse! Local singer/songwriter acoustic guitarist performs unique covers of American favorites.
